STUDY IN ZUST
Who I am?
My name is Njitia Cecile Bintou from Cameroon. I have been studying International Business as a master degree student at Zhejiang University of Science and Technology for 3 years, I am going to walk through my wonderful experience.
How it all started?
My journey begins in September 2020 at Zhejiang University of Science and Technology with very supportive Chinese friends and extraordinary Professors. As a Chinese taught major, Professors could also speak basic English to help us understand our lessons and practices. Whenever I face a problem, they always show up to help me. I found myself rapidly integrating into my academic timetable and achieving good academic goals.
What makes Hangzhou attractive to me?
Hangzhou is known to be a rich cultural place. My first point of attraction in this city is its scenery and its profound historical heritage. According to the state council,PRC, Hangzhou is classified as a key national tourism and historical city. What’s more, the municipality is equally considered as the digital capital of China and the born place of one of the biggest e-commerce compagnies worldwide.
How do I spend my time?
I actively volunteer in many social and academic activities, I use this moment to make my life more entertaining and livelier at ZUST. During each semester, the school provides us with several social activities by hosting many exciting events which are often great opportunities to make new friends and learn more about the Chinese culture. For instance, the Dragon Boat festival is one of the unforgettable activities I participated in 2021. By taking part in the boat race competition, I lived and experienced some new aspects of the Chinese culture and I grasped some value such as perseverance and team spirit.
Another one was the Chinese recitation competition, I got the opportunity to be coached and trained and by some of the most-skilled performance Professor in the school of language, which led our team to be awarded the first prize at the end of the competition.
In the same line, I actively candidate in the Chinese Poem writing competition, sport competition, “Zhejiang dream” event, and more. Taking part in these extra-curricular activities has enabled me to unveil my inner potentials and also made me a more rounded person. I, therefore, encourage every new ZUSTer to massively and actively take part too.
Academic Achievement
During my study at ZUST, I will say that “my dream came true”. Moving into a new city feels very anxious and fearful. Adapting to a new environment and feeling at home was very challenging but possible to make it. ZUST has given me the opportunity to have that sense of Home in China through the Covid-19 and offered me great floors to express my hidden talents. I have made some accomplishments that make me proud of myself:
1. Zhejiang Chinese recitation competition, 2021 & 2022, First prize
2. Internet + Innovation competition, 2021&2022, Gold medal
3. Certificate of social Voluntary and APL member,2021
4. Publishing my academic paper
5. ZUST Excellent degree scholarship, 2023, First Prize
A message to new student
I would first love to congratulate every new ZUSTer, as you embark on this exciting adventure. I want to offer you some words of encouragement:
1. Embrace new experiences: College is a time of growth and self-discovery, so don’t be afraid to try new things and step out of your comfort-zone. Join clubs, attend events and make connections with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
2. Prioritize your education: While college can be a lot of fun, remember that your primary goal is to obtain a degree.
3. Stay Organized: College can be overwhelming with so many classes, assignments, and deadlines, use planner or calendar to breakdown task into manageable.
In a final word, I would like to seize this opportunity to thank Zhejiang University of Science and Technology, my Supervisor and all Professors from the department of Economics and Commerce, friends, and all teachers in the International department for giving me such an academic experience and good opportunities.
