On July 16, the “Experience Zhejiang, Embrace Chinese Beauty” Summer Social Practice Group of Chinese and International Students from Zhejiang University of Science and Technology continued its in-depth research in Deqing and launched a special investigation in Mogan Mountain Town. The research group visited Wusi Village, the New Liaoyuan Building, Yu Street and Mogan Mountain International College of Geospatial Information. From four dimensions including digital-village construction, university-local cultural-innovation integration, historic-block renewal and talent cultivation for geospatial-information industries, the team comprehensively unlocked the development secrets of rural revitalization and industrial upgrading in Mogan Mountain.

At Wusi Village, reputed as “China’s No.1 Digital-Village”, the practice group gained first-hand knowledge of the “One Map for Digital-Village” platform built under the “Ten-Thousand-Village Demonstration & One-Thousand-Village Upgrade” Project. Integrated with a host of cutting-edge technologies, this platform delivers refined, digital-driven governance over rural administration, agricultural production and people-centered public services. SAIDKULOV MEKAN (Mekan), an international student from Turkmenistan, commented that digital technologies have injected fresh vitality into rural development.

At the New Liaoyuan Building, the team toured a rural cultural-innovation complex renovated from former school premises. By combining local specialties of Mogan Mountain with creative resources from universities, the project helps upgrade brands of local agricultural products and boost industrial development. PETRIA DENISA-ANDREEA (Qu Peihan), a Romanian international student, noted that university-local cooperation and cultural-innovation empowerment constitute an effective way for young people to contribute to rural revitalization.

At the Common-Prosperity Block of Yu Street, local authorities have revitalized the old street and increased villagers’ income through the conservation-oriented renovation of historic lanes and the introduction of diverse new cultural-tourism businesses. Drawing on their insights, international students shot promotional short videos for Yu Street to support its international-oriented cultural-tourism development.

One-day fieldwork brought fruitful insights. Chinese and international youth witnessed up-close multiple pathways for rural revitalization in Mogan Mountain: digital empowerment, cultural-innovation-led renewal and industry-education-driven growth. They gained first-hand experience of Zhejiang’s vibrant practices in urban-rural integration and common prosperity. Young people from different countries learned from one another during study-and-research exchanges, documented Deqing’s development from diverse perspectives, and told vivid stories of Zhejiang’s common-prosperity journey with youthful voices.
