The 2015-2016 Opening Ceremony & Scholarship Awarding Ceremony

The 2015-2016 Opening Ceremony & Scholarship Awarding Ceremony was held at the west reporting hall of library at 2pm on September 17, 2015. Some relevant leaders attended the ceremony, including President Ye Gaoxiang, vice president Zheng Youqu, the director of Hangzhou Exit-Entry Administration Li Zhenping, other school leaders and more than 300 new overseas students. This ceremony was hosted by the vice-president Mr. Zheng.

President Mr. Ye expressed his warm welcome in fluent English to more than 300 freshmen from about 90 different countries and sincerely congratulated those students who won scholarships. On the ceremony, Mr. Ye proposed two requirements to freshmenFirst, keep the school motto in mind ---Morality, Utility, Veritas and Innovation, value the learning opportunities in school, be honest and credible, and study hard. Second, he expected all of the freshmen could get along well with other students in ZUST, help each other and make progress together. The representative of the secondary school, Dang Huaiqing, gave the welcoming remarks.

The representative of international students, Hai Wen, from Malimade a speech on the ceremony in fluent Chinese. He said he had fallen in love withChinadeeply over these years studying here and expressed that he was impressed by the profound Chinese culture. He also promised that he were bound to value the studying opportunity inChina, learning hard and trying his best to become the pride of his parents and his countryMali.

Lu Wen fromGermanyrepresenting freshmen made a speech as well. He believed it was his honor to be a member of ZUST. With the deep love of Chinese culture, he expected he could study Chinese well in our school.


Mr.Ye, Mr.Li and some heads of relevant departments and secondary colleges presented the award certificates for winners of scholarship on the ceremony.

At the end of the ceremony, all international students made a vow at the proposal of the international student association: First, abide by the laws of the Chinese Government and the regulation of the school. Second, study hard, promise not to be absent from the class and have class on time. Third, be honest and trustworthy. Fourth, try to cherish time and develop a healthy lifestyle. At last, be nice and friendly. Their loud vow symbolized this ceremony as a perfect ending.


Until now there have been about 350 freshmen already registered in our school, including about 230 students who want to get diplomas and about 120 none-degree students. This registration of the international students will last for several days.
