Hi! I’m Shierry and I‘m from Indonesia. I am a Chinese Business graduating student. Studying in China has always been my dream since I was young and when I looked for the available opportunity at the time ZUST was definitely my top choice. I was very nervous when I first came to China in 2018 because I couldn’t speak Chinese fluently and it cost me a lot of time to adapt to the environment due to cultural differences between China and my hometown.

Despite all the challenges, ZUST has done a great job as a university in helping me cope with the new life I’ve had in China. All the teachers, curriculum, lessons, and lots of overseas friends have encouraged me to learn a lot during my time in ZUST. I gained a lot of confidence as a result and was able to keep learning well with all the support system I’ve had.

I got good grades in exams, my GPA is above 4, and I got the scholarship 4 times. I’ve participated in numbers of activities and competitions and here are some of my awards 微话剧大赛,短视频大赛2018,  筑想之星奖 2019, 梦想之星奖 2019-2021Chinese classic recitation competition 2021.

And then the pandemic happened. Covid-19 hit the entire world in all aspects significantly including education. This is how becoming a student in ZUST really changed my perspective to see all of this as a blessing in disguise. Even though I was forced to take all the classes online from Indonesia due to travel ban, I was still able to comprehend all the lessons and learn as much as I can as if I was studying offline in China.

Not only academically, ZUST also helped me grow as a mature person in terms of character and wisdom.

Farewell messages

There is one word that summarize my entire journey in ZUST: Grateful. I’m so thankful to  ZUST for the once in a lifetime life-changing experience that I’ve had during my short time studying in ZUST. ZUST really values fairness and justice highly and really put meritocracy into practice, proven by my 4-years scholarship that was rewarded because of hardwork, diligence, consistency, and perseverance. To all my teachers, dean, and friends I just want to say thank you because without all of you I won’t be who I am today. To all aspiring students who want to get more than textbook knowledge that you can get from everywhere else, I highly recommend ZUST as a trusted source for your education because you are really being prepared to enter a real world here and you probably won’t get the same experience that I’ve got from anywhere else.
